Brad Skinner I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Holiday season and you are looking forward to a great month of golf in January. Going into the New Year, I plan on placing more players assistants on the course. You will begin to see a Starter on the first tee and a Ranger/Marshall roaming the course on busy days. These extra staff members are meant to serve our golfers and also maintain pace of play. We all know the three hour rounds might have to be put on hold for a few months; however I hope the additional staff will help each of you enjoy your membership at Cypress Creek more and more.
I was disappointed to see that there was no response to the member event I had planned for December, however I understand that December is a hectic month for a lot of us. I know a good majority of you enjoyed the Friday night couples events that have been held in the past, so with that being said, I look forward to starting back up in January! The format will be a 2 person (male and female) 9 hole scramble beginning at 3:30PM on select Fridays. You will be able to sign up in the Golf Shop until 12:00PM on the Thursday before the event. The first date will be Friday, January 6, 2012. Think of this as “Couples Therapy” and come enjoy a Friday afternoon on the course with your fellow members!

Chris Threatt It seems that Mother Nature has been more than fair to us in the Suncoast lately. It’s hard to complain about the weather we have had to date since October, and because of the nice weather, more and more people have been and will be joining us daily for golf. We at the maintenance department feel it is important to pass along a friendly reminder to all to help maintain the course for all who play. Repairing divots with sand on the tees and fairways, fixing ball marks on the greens, and raking the bunkers leaves the course in the best playing condition for everyone. When repairing divots with sand, the best approach is to leave the sand filled flush with the grass. It insures the new seedlings and shoots will grow in as level as the rest of the surrounding turf instead of depressed. If the divot is overfilled, foot traffic and mowers will simply knock it down and out, but can leave a small knoll, and ultimately an uneven playing surface. The same idea holds true for the greens, but of course, without the sand. A repaired pitch mark or depression on the green heals up much quicker than an un-repaired mark. A repaired mark will be pretty much be un-noticeable after a couple days, while an un-repaired mark will take up to a couple weeks. Not to mention un-repaired marks leave an uneven surface for putting for all golfers that pass through. Our maintenance crew repairs many marks in the mornings as we change pin positions, but there is simply no way we can repair them all. Please help leave the golf course in as best a condition as we can for all golfers and most importantly-have fun out there!
Larry Eppler Our all-you-can-eat nights have been so popular, that we have decided to extend them to Saturday and Sunday nights as well. We are extremely excited about these nights because we are the only restaurant in the area offering such a wide array of all you can eat fare.
Wednesday night is peel-n-eat shrimp hot or cold for $11.99 Thursday night is wing night for $10.99
Friday night is the fish fry for $9.99
NEW Saturday night is pasta night for $10.99 including homemade meat ball or egg plant parmesan
NEW Sunday night will be wing night again with great drink specials
Also please remember after a round of golf you can join us in The Creek to kick back, eat, drink and review your round while taking advantage of our special drink deals that we have daily.
I would also like to remind everyone about The Preserve, which is our fine dinning restaurant, is open between 4:00 to 8:00 and has a great atmosphere to share with a loved one. All of the items on the menu in The Preserve are made with fresh, never frozen ingredients. We also have a few great specials in The Preserve as well. Wednesday and Sunday nights are prime rib for $16.95 where you enjoy our slow roasted, mouthwatering prime rib .
I hope to see more of you around in the coming months, supporting the club, and giving us the opportunity to provide you with a memorable dining experience.
Kevin Dutkowsky How time flies! It seems like just yesterday we were welcoming in 2011, and already we’re ushering it out and ringing in 2012! The club has vastly evolved in the past year, so much so, it would be a daunting task to list all the improvements here. Some of my personal favorites have been the parking lot and main entrance landscape; complete restocking of the golf shop merchandise, the two new fabulous menus in the restaurant and the increased nutrient and maintenance plan introduced to the greens. Each improvement was vastly different than the others, but all served as important pieces to our main goal of making Cypress Creek Golf Club better every year.
As I mentioned last month we will be capping our membership this year and are quickly approaching full capacity. If you have already signed up for your membership then you are all set, but if you haven’t, please note that we have less than 5 memberships left at our current rate. So if you plan on spending the winter with us at Cypress Creek and have not registered yet I suggest you contact the golf shop to sign up and begin your membership immediately. For your convenience, we will accept all major credit cards over the phone. Once we have reached our cap we will be creating a waiting list which will be utilized on a strict first come first served basis.
Now that the busy holiday season is over, hopefully you all will have more time to take advantage of some of the club organized events that we have planned for the coming months. Brad and his staff have put in a lot of work to come up with creative, fun events for you all to enjoy, but please note that unless we see an increase in member support, we cannot, and will not continue to plan these events. I know many of you feel that there should be no entry fee for these events since dues have already been paid. Please understand that none of the entry fee goes towards golf and that you are issued the entire fee back in drink tickets and golf shop prize money. Regardless, we hope that the enjoyment you will have by participating in our events will more than compensate for any nominal entry fee.
Thank you to everyone for helping make 2011 a great year at Cypress Creek Golf Club, and I look forward to making 2012 even better.
